Bowles Fluidics Corporation (BFC) was incorporated in 1961 to develop and commercialize the new technology of fluidics. At that time fluidics, a contraction of the words fluid and logic was considered to be analogous to early electronics, with many of the same capabilities and applications. BFC developed, on behalf of the US Government, a series of fluid logic devices and sensors for use in a wide variety of programs ranging from medical devices to industrial controls to weapons guidance systems. As a pioneer in this field Bowles applied for and was granted over 200 related patents.

In the mid 1970’s, BFC began to focus its efforts on commercial and consumer products and applied the science of fluidics to such items as the massaging showerhead, the hair dryer and the oral irrigator. While revolutionary at the time, these products are found in just about every home today.

CAD Drawing of Nozzle
Fluidic washer nozzles such as the one shown here in a computer model have become the standard of excellence throughout the automotive world.

The fluidic windshield washer nozzle debuted in 1979 and was quickly adopted on a range of vehicles by the major automakers. This nozzle, constantly updated and improved, is still a mainstay of BFC’s product lineup and is used by all the major automakers including GM, Toyota, Ford, Honda, Mercedes and Daimler-Chrysler. Through its quicker, more complete cleaning, wide coverage area and low fluid usage the fluidic nozzle has provided a generation of drivers with a clearer, safer view of the road. It is now the most widely used nozzle in the world with over 45 million units shipped annually by BFC and its licensees to our customers worldwide.

BFC engineers use advanced tools such as Finite Element Analysis, SLA rapid proto-typing and a variety of CAD packages to ensure optimal design performance.

Our commercial fluidic applications have also expanded to include massaging spa jets, innovative water conserving bath and shower products, air massage systems for residential and truck seating, and spray nozzles for a range of industrial, consumer and governmental needs. We are proud to count Proctor & Gamble, La-Z-Boy, Sundance Spas, Dirt Devil and Hamilton Beach among our valued customers. We at Bowles Fluidics Corporation appreciate your consideration of our capabilities and hope that when your company requires precision plastic molding or assembly, you will consider us.
